Product-market fit & new market entry
You're placing a bet on a new product, a new segment, or a new market entirely. I design the research that separates genuine opportunity from wishful thinking — combining customer discovery, competitive analysis, and concept validation to give you confidence before you commit resources. I've done this at scale for companies entering new categories and for startups finding their first foothold.
Metric diagnosis & growth challenges
The dashboard says something is wrong but nobody can explain why. Engagement is dropping, conversion is flat, churn is rising. I've spent years designing research programs that connect behavioral data to human motivation — helping teams understand not just what is happening but why, and what to do about it.
Competitive & regulatory response
A competitor launched something that changes the game, or a new regulation is reshaping your industry. I help teams quickly understand what these shifts mean for their customers and develop an informed response — whether that means adapting a product strategy, repositioning, or building new capabilities. At Meta, I led research that directly informed legislative testimony and policy responses across multiple markets.
Research practice building & maturation
Your team knows it needs better research but isn't sure how to get there. Maybe you're hiring your first researcher, or your existing practice isn't delivering strategic impact. I help teams build research operations from scratch and mature existing ones — from methodology and tooling to stakeholder education and organizational integration. I've built research teams at three different companies.
Voice-of-customer program design
You want a systematic way to hear from customers, not just ad-hoc studies when a crisis hits. I design ongoing VoC programs that keep insights flowing to the people who need them — including NPS tracking, continuous discovery practices, and feedback loop architecture. I've built VoC programs at PayPal and Ten-X, and completely redesigned the program at Headway.
Two ways to work together
Focused projects
A specific question, a defined scope, a clear deliverable. These engagements typically run 4–8 weeks and are built around a single research challenge — a product-market fit study, a competitive deep-dive, an NPS program design. You get senior-level research expertise applied directly to your problem.
Extended engagements
I embed with your team on a part-time basis and provide ongoing research leadership. This works well for teams that need strategic research capabilities but aren't ready for a full-time senior hire. Typical engagements run 2–3 days per week over several months.
